Sow a Fall Herb Bed This Sukkot
Sukkot is a season for celebrating the harvest, and here in South Mississippi, fall is planting time too.
Late summer through November is the fall-sowing window for many Mississippi gardens. Parsley, dill, rosemary and garlic all do well in a fall bed, and cool-season greens like kale, collards and lettuce can join them. Tuck a few in this week and you can be snipping fresh herbs for your kitchen through the cooler months.
A simple tip from local master gardeners: label everything with the plant name, variety and sowing date, so you know exactly what's coming up come spring.
